Ahsan Habibi Syed, fresh out of his Masters degree from Sweden, arrived in the UK in 2008 and faced the universal challenge of finding a job. This personal experience became the catalyst for his business idea.
"I was just trying to search for jobs," Ahsan explains, "but there was something missing with the job sites I was using where they weren't focusing on the user."
He saw an opportunity in the market to build something better. "Why not start my own job site?” Ahsan recalls.
Ahsan attributes the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey to the immediate and unwavering support of his family. His father, Dr. S.M.M. Habibi, and his mother formed the cornerstone of this foundation. His sister-in-law, Dr. Fareeda Quadeer, was invaluable for documenting the company's mission and objectives, while his wife, Najwa Hadi, contributed significantly to digital marketing.
He credits his elder brother, Syed Zainulabidin, for coining the distinctive name "Expertini" – a brand that now embodies his professional vision and accomplishments. The name is a creative fusion of "expert" and "initiative," symbolizing the company's core mission to empower professionals to take charge of their careers and become leaders in their respective fields.
Ahsan, a developer himself, personally built the initial website. He recalls that even from its early stages, the platform focused on attracting a steady stream of organic traffic.
Within just a few years, Expertini successfully expanded its reach to multiple countries, quickly establishing itself as a recognized international job portal.
Today, Expertini boasts a truly global presence, with strong user bases in key regions like the UK, USA, India, Canada, UAE, and Australia. The audience primarily consists of job seekers, typically aged 20-40, from diverse industries, along with employers and freelancers. The platform handles over 700,000 monthly visitors and features more than 100,000 live job postings across over 150+ countries.
