i do not understand why only partners can upload videos longer than 10
minutes. youtube should only be concerned with people who upload
videos that are too big in bitsize. what is up with this?
It's to discourage copyright infringement. YouTube discovered early on
that most videos more than about 5 or 6 minutes long were illegal
uploads of TV shows and movies.
Partners are exempt because their videos are vetted before they go
live.
Well, yes people do do that, and it does suck! but they are the ones
who are going to get the consequenses. Really this 10 minute rule is
the only best way, I am sure that could prevent it.
The only way to prevent the multiple videos uploaded from, say, a
movie, would be to limit how many videos could be uploaded, and that
seems sort of unfair to the people who legitamately upload their own
stuff.
I suppose the only thing they really could do is put a limit on those
caught doing it, but even sometimes mistakes are made and some might
be unjustly limited to upload because of a mistake made.

yes, this is stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!! when you go to upload it says 1gb or
10 min it does not state no bigger than or no longer than. anyone no
were I can put some longer videos up? I spent all night compressing
and uploading only to find out they are removing them.

Well, that is what a 10 minute limit means, I think very few people
would think that meant a lower limit. Actually what it says is up to
10 minutes, pretty hard to misinterpret that.
Yes, and it also says "UP TO 1GB" so with your/their logic I should be
able to upload any video under 1GB. The verbiage in their instructions
is ambiguous .
* Capture and Upload in High Definition!
* Upload up to 10 videos at a time
* Best video formats for YouTube
* Up to 1 GB in size.
* Up to 10 minutes in length.
Used with bullet points makes it sound like Up to 1 GB or Up to 10
minutes. It should state videos can be up to 1 GB in size but no
larger than 10 minutes in length. e,g,
* Capture and Upload in High Definition
* Upload up to 10 videos at a time
* Best video formats for YouTube
* Up to 1 GB in size but, no longer than 10 minutes in length

Maybe if you are a linear thinker the instruction may look unadorned.
However; for those of us who are three dimensional thinkers and look
at things from several perspectives, it is ambiguous.

True, but language is pretty much a linear thing, unless it is poetry.
So, although not specifically there is an implied "And" between "up to
10 min" and "up to 1GB" rather than an "or". Your alternate way of
stating it is less ambiguous, but, anyhow now you know what they meant
to say.

I agree, if you have a 1gb rule who cares how long it is. Another
reason why one would think that the 10 min rule is secondary to the
1GB rule,it is not piratical.
