Subject: Re: YouTube Now Hosts Your Channel Background Image
This is the one of the worst updates Youtube has ever put it's users
through. What happened to our freedom? Now we can't even have a good background image for our channel? That is seriously shitty. Please excuse me for the language, but it is just so retarded. Let me share with you my story. Today, I thought it was time to change my background. I've had it for a while now and it was starting to look dull. So, I fired up MS Paint and got to work. After about an hour of putting together assorted images and sprites, I fired up Adobe Photoshop to finalize my new background. After 2 and a 1/2 hours of work, I was finally done. The image came out to 701KB. Not bad at all. So, excited to share my work with my friends and viewers of my channel, I quickly rushed over to imageshack to upload it. It uploaded rather quickly, quicker then it usually does. I was even happier. Then I opened up my channel edit page, and found a browse button. I said, "Okay, so Youtube hosts images now? That's pretty neat." Then I look directly underneath the browse button to see that the file size limit was ONLY 256KB. THAT IS PURE BULL. I went into a minor rage. When I pulled myself together, I decided all I could do now was compress the image. I let out a deep breath, and got back to work. Another hour goes by, and I finally get the image to 248KB. In order to do that, I had to cut off 1/4 of the image, save it as a GIF with edited colors for less quality, and delete certain high resolution images. Frustrated, I went back to upload my butchered work. Now, I uploaded it successfully! BUT IT WON'T EVEN SHOW UP ON MY PAGE. EVERYTHING I DID WAS FOR NOTHING. NOTHING! Youtube is no longer the same user friendly video sharing site it used to be. It's just going to crap now with the worse updates you can imagine. Here are some suggestions: 1. Get rid of the hosting crap, because you obviously can't do it. Give the URL linking feature back. 2. Raise the file size limit. Make it AT LEAST 5MB. That would be fair. AND MAKE SURE IMAGES YOU UPLOAD ACTUALLY WORK. I'm sure everyone would prefer option 1, because it just makes
