The idea is good, but there is a significant problem I've found.

my 16:9 videos to fill a 4:3 space, I rendered them out as 4:3
letterboxed, with black bars at the top and bottom. Worked fine.
Now that this is widescreen by default, it means that these videos are
letterboxed on the sides as well as the top/bottom one I put there
before. So there is a tiny video in the middle of a sea of black
space. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have this problem.

these videos displayed at 4:3 (with my own letterboxing still there),
and then have an option to choose "display as widescreen" or
something. If this widescreen thing hangs around then I wont bother
letterboxing my new widescreen videos and let them fill the whole
space, but as it is it looks a little ridiculous. Especially as most
videos aren't widescreen.
