I tried to use a small clip from a DVD to test the captions, and it
worked perfectly.

So finally Google are bring the great Google Video features back to
YouTube. Yay!c

P.S. If your uploading content that is relatively popular or
commercial, you could try opensubtitles.org for the subtitles instead
of making your own.
