Subject: Re: Feedback on New Auto Translate Feature For Videos With Captions
There are over 30 available target languages, chrisybwell, multiplied
by the number of available source languages (i.e. the number of
subtitle files that have been uploaded) -- could be a long list.

Being able to select a source language is actually sensible: if you
have a video with English and Italian captions, and you want Spanish
captions, it makes sense to translate from Italian, not English,
because Italian is more closely related to Spanish.

As machine translations go, it's not bad. But I hope you add to the
dictionaries -- one unexpected omission I found in the English-to-
German translation is "cute". Ironic, given the number of people who
log on to YouTube to see "cute kitty" videos.
