I have noticed something regarding several videos that have been taken
down from YouTube (including two of my own). CTV videos, specifically
those showing Anonymous protests of Scientology, are being taken down
as due to a copyright infringement claim by the "American Rights
Counsel LLC". I attempted a search of this company in order to
ascertain their rights to the videos, but sadly, they do not appear to
exist outside of these claims on YouTube, and I cannot find reference
to them anywhere else as an actual, existing entity.
Therefore, I would like to pose the question to YouTube users; who are
the American Rights Counsel LLC? Why are they claiming copyright on
videos from Canadian news stations?
I would also ask that YouTube itself look into this manner, as all of
the videos taken down appear to show, as I have stated earlier,
coverage of the protests of Scientology. None of the videos taken down
are due to a copyright claim from CTV, but by this American Rights
Counsel. I would ask that YouTube investigate this manner for possible
fraudulent copyright claims.
Thank you all.
I too have had videos taken down due to bogus copyright claims; one
was a video I MADE MYSELF! How can someone else file a claim against a
video I MADE?
YouTube staff; there is a MASSIVE wave of bogus claims being made
against videos being posted by 'Anonymous'; the Church of Scientology
is more than likely behind this, they have finally realised the threat
that YouTube poses to them by allowing our videos to be shown here. We
are only interested in spreading the TRUTH.
YouTube, you need to REVIEW YOUR POLICY on copyright claims, the
current system is far to susceptible to ABUSE. All you have to do to
get a video taken down is make a claim and it is instantly pulled;
this is WRONG, when a claim is made the person who uploaded the video
shoud have a chance to respond BEFORE the video is removed, this stops
people like the Cult of Scientology getting their way instantly.
YouTube PLEASE sort this problem out and do not let Scientology
control this website.
'American Rights Counsel, LLC' and 'ContentFactory America, Inc' DO
NOT EXIST, they are bogus company names being used by Oliver Schaper
to file false claims and have Anonymous videos pulled
Agreed. In looking at the "claims" by the AMERICAN Rights Counsel LLC,
we can see that they make claims of copyright on both CANADIAN and
AUSTRALIAN videos, in addition to ShadowVsScientology's own video. And
yet, this "company" does not exist outside of YouTube copyright
claims, it does not have a YouTube channel, and cannot be found
anywhere else, and yet complains of copyright violation?
To YouTube: please, look at your policies. These people are being
allowed to make fraudulent claims to material that is clearly not
theirs. They are attempting to manipulate the policies you have put in
place to protect users in order to meet their own ends.
My account was suspended right after a copyright claim was made toward
a video that *I* made myself, from American Rights Counsel LLC, and
before that, copyright claims made by "Media House Enterprises,
Inc" ... oschaper (account now closed, but probably risen under a new
account) is deliberately abusing youtube's flagging system.
Are there any youtube staff listening? Please look into this!
youtube staff ? the forums are about youtube users helping fellow
youtube users.
if you're trying to contact youtube or google, you should try it
another way.

So there's a suggestions forum that doesn't get looked at by youtube
staff?
Whether the forums are about youtube users helping youtube users is
besides the point anyway. I'm still making the suggestion for youtube
to have a better flagging system to prevent abuse like this. No one
should be able to get another user suspended all because of anger or
revenge.
My suggestion: have a team actually investigate copyright claims
rather than relying the currently flawed system.

Youtube, thank you so much for quickly taking care of this issue of
obvious copyright abuse. My channel, along with other channels of
whom are victims of oschaper' fradulent claims of copyright
infringement, have been restored.
However there must be some way to prevent this from happening again.
Please brainstorm some ideas among your youtube staff.
