As far as I recall, the ads are generally targeted to specific
audiences based on interest in the topic. For example, if you watch a
number of videos about a certain topic, those types of ads may appear.
This would ultimately be determined by the keywords that the uploaders
choose and sometimes they put words like 'sex, naked, gay' so thier
videos get listed in various searches - so it does not always work as
intended. I believe the keywords for the video you are watching also
determine what types of advertisements are shown in that particular
video.

It is technically possible to block all ads on YouTube including in-
video advertisements (up until April 16) using a browser plug-in/
extension. However doing so means you would not be supporting the site
financially and that would not be very nice of you.

If you believe the advertisement was inappropriate for the site, you
can try reporting it to Google/YouTube.

If you use Safari and install the Adblock add on you don't see any
Google ads on any website.

I am not looking for a solution to block the ads, I want to stop
google displaying gay-ads without my permission!

Its not my job to install software and fixes to prevent google from
doing what it does.

I am pretty sure I could sue google in Switzerland for acting like
this.

So how can this be legal? Displaying offensive ads and assuming somone
is gay??

Oh please. There are tons of ads showing single's sites catering to
heteros. How is that any different? So you're not gay. Don't click the
link! Complain about something serious.

LOL

So, you are gay? Good for you.

It is very disturbing that Google thinks I am gay. It is not a random
ad! That would be no problem. But Google shows me this personalized ad
because it thinks I am gay! That is not ok.

I want to know why Google thinks I am gay. What actions and sites I
visited led to this conclusion?

Google showing me cat-food-ads because he thinks I have a cat would be
ok, but not ads about my sexuality. Google goes way too far.
