2- Please provide a status bar.
We live in an area with unreliable internet
and many times I have waited up to 2 hours,
fearing to restart the upload
lest it be "nearly finished."
Status bars are not exactly exotic features, this is 2008.

I completely agree regarding the time length limit. I spent 3 hours
today attempting to upload a 45-minute video; it was well under 1 GB,
but as I found out when I visited my channel, it was rejected due to
its length.
I'm really disappointed that YT has made such a glaring usability
error, especially when it would be so straightforward to add the limit
to the "About Uploading" area. By omitting it from that area while
showing all the other major requirements, it makes the user feel as
though any time limit is acceptable as long as the video is in the
right format and under 1 GB in size.

Anytime I use it, it never stops saying its finished uploading. It
just goes and goes and goes for hours. I have to open a new window and
check my_videos every few minutes to make sure its actually finished!
What happened to the newer version of the original uploader. Where it
told you how much MB's have been uploaded and what is left! That's
alot better then the new beta uploader!!!!!!!!!
I have this exact same problem. Also, it seems my videos are taking
EXTREMEMLY long times to upload. The last video I uploaded was about
400mb. I first pressed upload at 1:00 PM, and it didn't show up on my
page until 5. Please at least give us the option to use the old
uploader with a progress bar, Timmy!

Can you add (to the uploading sign) __Kb/kbps/mb e.c.t out of ___Kb/
kbps/mb e.c.t so saying its in kbps it would be: ___kbps out of __kbps
and maybe a loading bar if you feel like it! Also some reason the new
uploader (beta) is really really SLOW! and its not just me i have
cable with download speeds of 12000kbps and upload of 1000kbps and i
try it alot, also not many people use internet in my street or around
me and i dont know anyone else with cable (i know most of the
nieghboor hood).
It is takin me like 1hr to upload a F#$!in 30 second video! lol thanks
anyways youtube,
DJJORDIE
I agree with these and am very frustrated as a new YT uploader. No
where does it say 10 Minutes is some time limit. I have looked in the
terms of service and in help, so could some please point me to where
this rule is stated?
I diligently checked that my files were under 1 GB, and the uploader
merrily went along and took my three files which took a long time.
The next day I went to my account and it says that I violated the
"Terms of Use". If you are going to tell me I violated the terms of
use, they have to be more clearly defined at the point of upload.
These are family home movies that are not great resolution so they are
long duration but not that big of files.

When you upload multiple files it would be nice to have the completed/
successful ones disappear to allow more videos to be uploaded. i.e.
If I have 11 videos to upload I have to wait for all ten to upload if
I want to upload the 11th.
I hate to say but the uploader sucks. Status bar almost always showing
at the end of upload that is still uploading when it's not, so it
cannot advance to other uploads!
It amazes me how the world's largest video hosting site and site with
such profit can have this kind of amateur bugs in it's uploader (not
only in uploader). I know it's beta version but anyway how long has
been beta for now and how long it took them to place a status bar in
the first place!
Ok being able to upload up to ten video's is a good feature but this
new update is lacking ...Please bring back the old video updater I am
having so much trouble with the new one trying to upload a small video
file. When I tried to up load it twice it just when on and on and
still would not upload
( 70MB file and 1 1/2 hours later nothing!).
By the way what happened to percent uploader counter? This was one of
the best features and it is not included in this new update. Please
consider it and put the upload counter in and bring back the old
version because this new version SUCKS! (pardon the French)

There are 2 uploaders out there. There is the new Beta with all of
it's features, and there is the non beta that has the ability to
upload just as much as the beta but with no progress bar. Now PLEASE
NOTE!!!!!! The New Beta does not use all of your bandwidth. It only
uses a quarter of it for some reason. I can up load a good video in
less than 10 mins with the non beta uploader. But with the new beta I
can upload a good video in more than an hour. So just keep in mind, if
you want to upload a video fast you gotta go back the the non beta
uploader. If you want to have slower upload speeds and a progress bar
then use the beta. You can still edit your video informaition while
your uploading the only thing that's different is the progress bar and
the upload size is reduzed from 1Gb to 100Mb with the older uploader.
Hope this kinda helped for some people who had this problem with
uploading. :)
P.s. You can also go back to the old one. If you click Upload, look
down a little and your see "Take me back to the normal uploader". If
you use that one, it uses all of your bandwidth. Happy Posting

Ok, the default uploader sucks! I tried to upload a video and when I
woke up this morning about 12 hours after I had started it, the
uploader still said I was uploading. So I just cancelled and tried the
beta one which I like better now because it has a progress bar. Then I
check my Channel and guess what, the video is right there, the only
problem though is that for some reason my Metadata wasn't there so I
had to put it all back in. I don't know how the beta uploader will
handle uploads for me, but I will check soon enough. But what I don't
like about either uploader is that you can't add all details that you
could've added before we got them, now I have to go into my video
after it is uploaded and tell it to have no comment rating and no
embedding. It's quite a pain.

Just tried the beta, it sucks just as bad, after the video is
uploaded, it doesn't move onto the next one, making it so I have to
exit out of it. And then it doesn't save it's Metadata so now all of
my related videos have nothing to do with my video since it was on my
channel under the file name.

I agree, the Beta needs some serious improvement. For example, a
percentage of completion would be nice, so we can know how far along
our uploads are, or better yet, if it's even uploading at all. I've
had that happen many many many times.
Also, allow users to upload images to use as icons for their vids, or
at the very least, allow us to choose which frame to use as the icon.
The 3 frame grabs aren't cutting it.
I've just posted in "bugs, reports & issues" about this very
problem..
I cannot for the life of me seem to upload videos. I go back and forth
between the beta and the old version..without much success.
it takes me around 20 attempts(if not more) to finally upload. my
videos are not large, only around 30mb. the upload just continually
times out.
it would be nice to see here, some actual response from the youtube
developers on these problems.
i haven't seen anything yet..do they even read these??
so what do i do? keep on trying to upload? it's taken me 5 days to
upload one small video. not good
I guess youtube lacks for lack of competition...maybe another huge
dollar internet business should be created just to manage uploads to
youtube.
Where is youTube Timmy or Ann or Liz? Why do we not see
responses from them here if this is the forum their site directs us
to?
I do not do a whole lot of uploading...but I can certainly agree that
most everytime
I do it borders on the ridiculous. Currently have 2 videos of the
same thing I am
trying to upload...one 17m wmv, and one 90m mpg. and neither want to
fly.
I have Vista, am using IE, and am on DSL.
Do they not have any ability to figure out why things fail? Do they
have a specific
timeout when something stops sending? Is the status bar accurate...if
we see it stalled
can we assume the send is stalled?? The beta version seems to have a
status bar now...but it bounces to about 75% on mine and as described
above...just sits there.
Seriously, some really smart person should read through these forums
and copy what
youTube does right and FIX everything that is wrong...and create a
business of their own...I even
have a name for it meToob...now I just need some really smart person.

well, I'm always use the Bulk Upload Plugin, because shows the percent
while u r uploading a file...
but will be great if YT do something like FaceBook do: the uploader of
facebook is so great, has progressbar, and other stuff... but most
importnat: U CAN UPLOAD A VIDEO WITH MAXIMUM 20 MINUTES, that is so
cool. In youtube only accept 10 min, this sucks.... 20 min is just
perfect, but 10 min youtube?? please, let us to upload our videos at
least 20 min of length.
A "shutdown computer when upload is complete" function whould be a
great help, as my videos take up to 3 hours to upload and then I would
not have the computer on overnight even after upload has finished.
Also a way of letting us use our own frame grab (from the video) for
the thumbnail to the video.
