I have great vids that only me and a few friends would watch but
youtube strips the audio every time. Seriously, who gives a shit
about 20 people watching a warcraft vid?
YouTube have no choice but to comply with the law. Even complying with
the law to the letter hasn't protected YouTube from having to defend
itself against billion-dollar lawsuits. Ridiculous as it may seem,
this kind of copyright infringement could get YouTube shut down for
good.
If your video is only for a few of your friends, burn it onto a DVD or
CD and give it or post it to your friends. That might just about
qualify as fair use (or even if it doesn't, at least you won't be
caught). Uploading to YouTube is considered to be broadcasting
globally.
If you really need to post your video to YouTube, there is so much
music available you can legally use for free (or in some cases for a
small fee). I have a video on this subject:
However, bear in mind that even screencasts of video games are subject
to copyright legislation: the artwork, sound effects, music etc. all
belong to other people. If the software company sees your video, they
have the legal right to order its removal if they so wish. You'll need
to e-mail the company and ask for their written permission before you
upload.
if its only you and a few friends, set the video to private, and have
them have(or use existing) accounts, and add them to the private view
list for the video. I do not believe youtube censors private videos.

You're wrong. If the music is registered with the content
identification system, it will automatically be removed. If it isn't,
you might get away with it simply because the copyright owner won't be
able to see it and so won't be able to file a complaint, but you
shouldn't bank on it.
